Bring 4 cups sugar & 4 cups water to a boil, allow to cool
Add 30 clusters of fresh elderflowers
Add 2 lemons and 2 oranges, sliced
Add 1.75 oz citric acid powder (optional)
Let sit for 24 hours, then strain and keep refrigerated.

Thanks! No, this is a case where dried is definitely not better. Many of the brightest, most floral fragrant molecules evaporate as the plant dries. With something like oregano, this leaves behind some nice woody flavors that are just more stable and stay in the dried plant, but for elderflower–you’d lose all the good stuff.
so it looks like I have some planting to do! StGermain is 20 percent.alcohol content..so this is the base syrup so to speak?
